It will take some getting-used-to for newbies especially with the controls and will eat up a lot of physical strength when applying the techniques.. it's always good to stretch out before a session, giving emphasis on your upper torso, neck, rotator cups, and lower back..

The first time i went kite surfing, it took my body 3 whole days to stop aching. eventually, static flying on the beach w/o harness served as the best work our for me. Fighting the sand works & doing long pulls help the muscles. but i guess it is always in the strength that you put into it. fly hard & static for an hour & you'll soon see the improvements.

have you tried yoga? I did it for almost a year, alternating it with kite surfing. I feel like it gives my body good stamina without pulling my muscles. And just try twisting your back if it hurts.
