just want to have something to argue about: what do you think is the best kite to use for a start up kid? let's say, someone who's only around 14 or 15?

A 2-3m buster kite is just okay, depends still on the weight of the kid.. it's advisable to let them start with something that wont hurt them in high winds..

when i started kiting years ago, i had a Flexifoil Sting 1.2 for beginners. it was flying great during my first 3 times of kiting but then i expected more power from it.. then i switched to a 5.5 flexifoil bullet, and im still using it until now, much better than the previous one..
now for starters, i'd rather give them the biggest kite there is to excite them, but it must also something that won't bore or disappoint them after a while. i can recommend flexifoil kites because they come with good quality, although they are a bit pricy than the others. the rage kite is also ideal. just dont go for anything less than 2.5M because any kid who'd stick with that size will surely get bored afterwards as long as he gets used to its power.

When i was 16 i had a 3m radsail and it's very easy to fly wit it! and after that i bought another radsail pro at 6m for my 2nd kite..
for a start up kid, give him a duo control kite that would stay under 2m. supervise him until he gets enough experience and then he could go over 2m.. NEVER forget to use a kite killer at one side. because if a child lets go when the kite is powered up, u have to chase him at quite a distance. depending on where it comes down, u would be responsible for the damages.

Flexifoil's sting kite is recommended as a training kite w/o any fear of traction.. Well, i guess the larger kites would give kids a little fun in good winds, but still, the 1.2m sting is awesome for learning.. Pro-foils 1.0 & 1.5 are great learning kites too and with great prices. But they give u a fear of traction in higher winds..
