I have a Vegas 07 12mt & it doesnt seem to have a drift! I constantly overtake my kite with the power of the wave. And as a consequence, my kite falls out of the sky & is tumbled by the waves. Do yuo have suggestions on how i can avoid this? Is there a technique? Others say that i should try riding unhooked. Will that fix my problem?

Vegas performs really good in waves. After all, no kite would drift down wind while the lines are slack. And hey! moving the kite from one side to the other is what kite surfing is all about. Just MOVE your kite! Riding unhooked will not help at all..

well, i didn't like the rebel 08. same reason as yours for the Vegas 07. it keeps on stalling on the waves whenever i go downlooping at the low end of its range. what i did then was took the bungies off & it rides much better that way.

you can also try to re-tune your bar w/ more frontline tension at neutral.

Try to make your steering lines a bit longer. I am sure this will fix the problem.

Back stalling of kites usually happens during light wind days at 8-14 knots, normally because the back lines are too tight when u're unhooking. So your kite need to be well-trimmed before you go to the water. And depending on the wind, u need to adjust ur back lines once in a while.

Your other option would be to cut the front line shorter. By doing so, your steering lines will become longer. I think Vegas are nice kites.

Vegas are the perfect kites for kite surfing. you have to steer the kite while riding the waves in lighter winds. when you're riding a hooked kite in bow, most likely, what will happen is that u'l get a slow steering kite becaus of too much depower.

it's better to trim on your depower strap& to ride unhooked. the kite will give u the same steering behavior during ur ride since u cant depower it at that moment. THAT works!

and when you're riding C, ur depower range must not be too big. shorten the depower line or solve it with a stopper ball at a short distance.

Mix up several styles! Sometimes i backstall my kites & sometimes i let it drift downwind & sometimes, just whip it around! it's great 'cause it opens ur mind to possibilities you don't know existed.

What i usually do is stall the kite hard at about 45% away from the water. And with the wave breaking to the right & coming to the shore, i'd ride down the line by riding straight downwind. And then the style of riding will then depend on the strength of the wind. And during lighter winds, u'll learn to cut back when ur lines go too slack to let the kite catch up a bit.

And i am using a long-throw depower, it does make a difference! It allows me 2 go full stall to full depower w/o even changing the adjustments!

There are people who kite the waves & there are some who surf the waves. But for me, it depends on the conditions when you're riding. Try doing freestyles, i like that.

MOving on, your problem is just a quick fix.. It 's only a matter of fine tuning your kite! Flatter kites usually have this problem of back stalling in lighter winds.. I found out that too much back line tension will allow the kite to slow down. You can tune them by shortening the front lines or you can lengthen the steering lines. And that was such a fine tuning, i did this with mine.
