Kite Surfing Techniques - Going Downwind

Going downwind or leeward is very easy if you do it by accident. This may sound strange but if you do it intentionally, it can feel awkward. Going downwind means riding away with the wind. You move at an angle greater than 90 degrees.

To turn downwind, you have to release your edge and put your board flat on the water. Be sure to put your kite high up the wind window.

If you do not do this, you will start going very fast. Once your kite is high up the wind window, going downwind is a piece of cake.
