2007 Australian National Freestyle Titles
TUESDAY, 20 FEBRUARY 2007
The 2007 Australian National Freestyle Titles will be held in Caloundra from March 17-22. With pleasant daytime temperatures of 25C and water temperature of 22C, Caloundra is a perfect location for kitesurfing. With excellent chances of suitable wind, the site selected for the event allows for spectators to have uninterrupted views from the boardwalk which hugs the foreshore for hundreds of metres. Competitors will also be impressed with the shallow, flat water with plenty of space and clean ocean breeze.
This event will decide the 2007 champion in four divisions: men's open, womens, junior, & masters. Entries to this event is via pre-qualification through state titles. Some wild-card entries will be admitted. See www.aksa.com for competition rules & details.
On March 16, there will be a down wind race from Caloundra to Kawana which is approximately 12km.
The weekend will also see a Big Air competition and a boardercross event where entrants will race through an obstacle course to reach the finish in the fastest possible time. Entry to this event is open to any AKSA member although numbers will be limited.
Some international visitors will also be competing at the kitesurfing nationals. New Zealand's hottest juniors will be trying to dent our Aussie pride. Some talented open men riders will also be there!
