Australian Kite Boarding Event Set for March 7-11
FRIDAY, 22 FEBRUARY 2008
Australia’s top kite surfers are set to meet once again in the region for the 2008 Australian Kite Boarding Championships that will run from March 7 to 11. The event will be held at the Elliot Heads which, according to organizer Bill Crang, is the perfect playground for the airborne acrobats.
Crang says the title will surely be awarded to someone who will exhibit the most exciting moves. He adds that the flat water of the river mouth and the consistent winds at Elliot Heads is perfect for the kite surfing tournament.
Each contestant will compete in a four-man heat running for about ten minutes with six rounds in a day. They will be judged based on the difficulty, style, and execution of tricks in their respective runs. The tournament opens three categories - men's division, junior and women's division, and master's category.
