Mount Maunganui’s kite surfers reigned supreme in the recently concluded New Zealand national kite surfing championship which was held in Northland.
Three Mount Maunganui locals were named finalists for the said event. Marc Jacobs won in the open style competition, while brothers Torrin and Kelby Bright made it to third and fourth place.
Meanwhile, Jacobs’ recent achievement marks his first ever New Zealand open title. After bagging the national title, the young Papamoa professional is set to compete at the Tarifa round of the world tour that will be held on early July.
According to Jacob, participating at a few tour stops boost his skill and gave him more competition experience.
