CGKA Blowout 2008 to be Held on August 2

This year's kiteboarding season is yet to roll with numerous events to be held in July and August. The 2008 Columbia Gorge Kiteboarding Association (CGKA) Blowout will be held on the 2nd of August, Saturday, with an alternative date (no wind) on August 16. Starting venue is at the Stevenson East Point Launch at 12 p.m.

The downwind kiteboarding race will start off in Stevenson, Washington and on to Hood River, Oregon to complete the 17-mile run. Minimum race riding requirement of three years will be enforced for this event, and racers should be capable of self-rescue. Registration for the event is until the 31st of July, and would cost $35 for CGKA members and $45 for non-CGKA members. The event will have two divisions, the competitor division and sportsmen riders division, with competitor division starting at noon and sportsmen riders division to follow half an hour later.

During the event, Kite The Gorge will conduct free Kite Tuning Clinics and Self-rescue Clinics. There will also be a barbecue and after race social event for all participants, spectators, volunteers, and sponsors.
